This review is from: Western Digital WD TV Live Hub 1 TB Media Center (Electronics)
This is a super sweet media player and the price is right. This "hub" version of the WDTV is nice because there isn't an ugly USB drive hanging off of it as the drive is built in. It plays every type of file I have including ripped DVDs, ripped Blu-ray, mp4, mp3, and AVIs. The installation and loading of media to the device is very easy (it shows up as a regular Windows network device).

a) Some reviewers have complained about how slow it is to copy to the device and frankly, I don't get it. I attached it via 1000bt and files copied to it as fast as they copy to any computer attached via 1000bt.
b) Other reviewers have complained that it doesn't play some of their media and, again, I don't get it. I tried every modern video and audio format and had absolutely no problems - the audio and video is always in sync especially. The various audio formats such as Dolby Digital, AAC, PCM, MPEG-1, etc. all work great. DVD navigation works great which was a limitation of the very first WDTV 2 years ago (which the kids are still using on their TV).
c) Someone had problems with Netflix. I had absolutely no problem and I suggest that perhaps the other reviewer has problems with their internet connectivity. I have Netflix available on my Blu-ray and WII and I vastly prefer using the WDTV for Netflix now.

Some minor annoyances:

a) The WDTV scans for new media and it sometimes sucks the life out of the device so the UI becomes completely un-responsive. In those instances I just leave it alone for a few minutes until the scanning is complete.
b) The WDTV sometimes doesn't realize it needs to rescan when I copy files via the network from a computer. I haven't tracked down under what circumstances it occurs, but I just cycle the power (by pulling the plug) and it figures out it has to rescan then.
c) The WDTV and my Sony A/V receiver sometimes doesn't get along (the audio does not work over the HDMI). I suspect it has more to do with the Sony than the WDTV because I can cycle the power on the Sony and everything is fine.
