This review is from: Western Digital WD TV Live Hub 1 TB Media Center (Electronics)
I have been using WDTV since its first iteration. IMO, its hands down the best media player on the market and believe me, I have tried the vast majority of them. Sure, Apple TV has a better interface but its crippled with its insanely small number of supported codecs. If you want a media player that is easy to set up and will play everything you throw at it, you should be buying a WDTV.

With that being said the only thing that was missing from the WDTV line was a version that had an internal HD. I knew it was only a matter of time before an internal drive version hit the streets and it was worth the wait. I would have liked to see a 2TB version but its early and there is a very good chance we will see one released in the future. This version has a 1TB drive which is still a considerable amount of space, especially for the average consumer.

The only real difference between this version and the WDTV Live Plus is the addition of the internal HD and the addition of Blockbuster on Demand. So now people have the choice of either Netflix or Blockbuster. I will be sticking with Netflix but choice is always a good thing for the consumer and this was a smart move by WD.

Bottom line - The market is absolutely flooded with these types of media players and in all honesty there are quite a few that would most likely satisfy the average consumer. With that being said, the WDTV is imo the best choice out there right now, especially when you factor in the price. You would be EXTREMELY hard pressed to find a video, or audio codec that isn't supported by WDTV. That means you dont have to worry about wasting time converting video formats. Just transfer it to the HD and watch. As I stated in my previous reviews of WDTV's, my mother leaned how to use one of these in a little under 10 minutes and she is about as anti technology as they come. I think its a mind block as she thinks she is going to have a hard time so she does have a hard time. Well, not with this device and this is honestly the biggest compliment I can give this device. If my mom can figure it out, ANYONE can figure it out.

IMO the WDTV was, and still is, the best all around media player on the market.
